I downloaded a movie and it is a wmv file. I tried to watch it but I can't since it tries to acquire a license and can't find it. I looked at the file properties and it says it is protected content. I tried to convert it to an mpg file or avi file usind about 7 different programs, including all 4 tmpgenc programs (tmpgenc plus, tmpgenc dvd author, tmpgenc dvd source creator, tmpgenc xpress) and wmv to avi, etc. But it won't go into any of the programs or i get an error when trying to convert it. Is there a way to remove or bypass the protection to convert it? I would like to convert it to a vcd, even if I have to convert it to avi, DivX or something else first. That protection is preventing me from doing so. Any help with the protection would be greatly appreciated.

Circumventing WMV protection (DRM) is against forum/site rules. It is the same as talking about renting movies to copy them.
