  1. Is there any way to combine 2 audio tracks into 1 in VirtualDub(Mod)? Or do I need another (hopefully free) program to do this? I pretty much just want to add some background music (from a wave/MP3 file) to a video.

I would separate the wav from the avi (with Virtual Dub - "save wav"). Then open the wav in something like Audacity, where you can mix in any number of extra audio tracks. Audacity is a fantastic multitracking program, and best of all, it's FREE!

Of course, you won't have a video preview. You'll need to cue your music or whatever with the original soundtrack.

If you wanted a video preview while you add extra audio tracks, well, I'm not sure how you'd go about this with freeware. I'd say you'd need something like Adobe Premier or Vegas or Ulead Video Studio.
