Hello all,
I have used TMPGenc for a year or so now and have always been very happy with the results. But I also wanted to experiment with CCE. So I got a copy and set down to use it the other night. I had just ripped the Usual Suspects and got a very rare synch problem with TMPGenc. So, using Virtual Dub, I got the synch right and then frame served it to an .avi file. Then I opened CCE because I figured if I was going tohave to reencode the whole thing I'd prefer to do it faster. I added the file...set up the settings for an MPEG-1 output...and it crashed. I tried again, same thing. now I have a 1.0 gig Thunderbird and 320 megs of ram...any suggestions? Anyone else with this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Try deselecting sound and only encode video. CCE seems to have problems encoding sound on amd systems.

I'll try that...thanks. Does anyone then know a very quick way to reencode after having a synch problem? I was frameserving...could I just remux the frameserved .avi and save reencoding?

How's ur source file?? In-sync?? Divx??
U should be about to load it directly to cce without frameserving, provided u have the right codec.
I have one system that can directly convert to .mpv, then I create a .mp2 with tmpgenc/lame, then mux the mpv & mp2 with bbmpeg. -
Well I ripped the DVD and then ran the VOB files through DVD2AVI....and then, through TMPGenc. THis is only the second time I have ever had synch issues...(THe Usual Suspects and Waiting for Guffman) Can CCE even read DVD2AVI files?
Thanks,
Mark -
I've only ripped and converted one dvd before, but i used clad?? ripper. Sorry on DVD2AVI experience.
When u create the avi file is it in divx or huffy??

Macros...
That the usual suspects dvd (and some other older ones) have sync problems... this is how I solved it and sorry if my memory is a little fuzzy... i opened up the vobs in dvd2avi... then I moved the slider forward till the credits begin (I believe there's an opening logo, if so skip past that) then apply the mark in point and save the project with the audio track selected. You could use tmpgenc but you seem not to want to. CCE can't open .d2v files but there is a couple of ways around this.. either get the Vfapi reader and convert the .d2v to .avi... this works but is slow... I would try to explain the faster way but the guide on http://www.doom9.org does a better job than i could ever do.... Go to the guide on Mpeg2dec framserving and try to teach yourself that way.
P.S. if you decide to use Mpeg2dec, download fitoncd from the tools section of this site and use its script creator... I think it works great.
