I use a NEC ND-2500A with 107v2b5dld firmware patch.
The problem is when I write Ritek G04 -R 4x at 8x speed
it reads OK on my DVD-burner and DVD-rom but on my standalone Mustek v560 player the brightness of the movie varies during playing.
DVD's burnt at 4x doesn't have that problem.
Any explanation?

Did you check the PI/PO rating with your disc that cannot playback with your DVD player? I am assuming this is the drive problem. Because I was an NEC user at first.
