  1. I'm having problems backing up Peter Pan the movie, the backup is fine, it plays everything fine, except when I select Play Movie from the menu, it begins playing the warnings in like 2 languages, and the the "modified for tv" screen, then the "commentaries do not reflect those of the studio" or something like that, and it never gets past that screen, it just repeats that, over and over, and the movie never begins, if i select from the scene selection menu the first scene of the movie it begins playing it normal, cause it skips the warnings, but when I press Play Movie from the main menu is when the warnings come up and it never gets to the movie, so, What do you think is wrong, how can I 'repair' it, can it be done with ifoedit or something like that?
Almost forgot, this happens on all my dvd player and in the pc as well.
    Thanx.

Why do you even keep all that crap on the dvd. Just copy the main movie in reauthor mode using dvd shrink. Ya you loose the menus but who cares.

I tend to agree, as we are taking a backup so we don't scratch the original and we would watch the movie far more times than the extras.

    Yes of course we are...

Anyway, I think IFOEdit can help you. It sounds like there should be a JumpTo command somewhere after all the copyright BS that plays. If you are going to use IFOEdit you might as well alter the IFO so that the copyright crap doesn't play at all and Play Movie simply ... um... plays the movie. This may or may not be possible depending on the existing structure and commands.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. I recently backed up a muppet movie to DVD. Originally I just removed extras and burned DVD... It would replay the main menu over and over again. So... I had to repeat my copy process to only copy the movie (with no menus at all) - worked...

That was the first and only time I noticed this anamoly.

I have a dvd, The Abominable Dr Phibes, that will play on my standalone player just fine, but will NOT play in my PC. I can get it to play by clicking on proper chapter number in WMP, but as for auto playing, forget it. Must have something to do with the way the dvd is authored, I guess. Backups encounter the same problem, which makes be believe this is exactly what the problem is.

if u elimate the subtitles, this will happen on some disc (tri-star). if its a bilingual film with french and english disclaimers, u'll have to keep both sub's else the english sub will just loop while the player is looking for the fench disclaimer.

Either get a RW or try playing it on your PC before burning.
    If in doubt, Google it.
