hey
i have some xvid mpeg-4 .ogm files
I used this guide https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/89139.php, using graphedit
I converted 3 files prior to the problem, and they were successful. I converted it to AVI and used tmpgenc to encode in mpg. However, this 4th ogm wouldn't display video when i tried to encode it in mpg (when i was defining a source range). Using avicodec, i found that the codecs for audio and video for all 4 files were identical.
After using graphedit to make the avi, the avi file played perfectly.
TMPGenc allowed me to encode the 4th file in mpg, but when i try to play it, it is just a blank screen with correct audio.
One thing I noticed was that with the other 3 files, once i selected them in tmpgenc and went to source range, there is a message in the window that says "Warning: Nothing to output bframe decoder lag", but the encode proved successful.
This 4th file doesn't display that message, just a blank screen. Perhaps it has something to do with the problem. I have no idea what the message means either (i'm new)
I've tried demultiplexing the avi with virtual dub, but it was unable to open the file, with error message:unable to decompress (may be corrupt).
I'm stuck and in need of help.
I hope this wasn't too confusing.
Thanks!

try scanning the file for errors using virtualdub.
it's possible the file is in fact, corrupt -
it is possible that a file can be played but is corrupt? i can't open it in virtualdub (says decompressor error)

you might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling xvid codecs.
if you're getting decompressor errors...i believe that has to do with codecs(compression/decompression).
try uninstalling/reinstalling xvid or even uninstalling xvid and using ffdshow instead.
