Hi everyone. I am totally new to the whole burning experience and will try to explain as much about the problem that I am encountering. Here is what I do know
1. I own a Dell dimension 2350
2. I have installed a SONY DRU 700A burner
3. The above is being used in conjunction with Nero(the latest version)
4. I am using TDK DVD-R 4.7GB disc's to burn onto
5. I am using DVD Decrypter and then DVD Shrink before burning
6. I can burn onto a TDK DVD-R reinscriptable disc with no problems.
The problem that mystifys me is that I now no longer seem to be able to burn onto the TDK DVD-R discs with out either the process stopping or when it completes the burnt copy skips and pauses towards the end of the disc. The weird thing is that the only time that this has worked correctly is when I burnt at 8X and everyone is saying burn at a slower speed.I had one other notable success with a single burn disc when I burnt 3.36Gb with no problems
I am now the proud owner of 15+ coasters and a headache that wont go away. I cant seem to understand why this is happening. I cant see why I am only able to get a complete copy with a reinscriptable disc. I have tried looking at this with a degree og logic but now need the kind help of someone before I lose my mind and throw this PC out of the window.![]()
I would be most gratful if someone could point me in the right direction asap. Kind regards............... James.

IMHO, it seems like a software problem.
There's something running on your PC that stops the burning.
If the drive recognizes the disk, if it starts to burn, if the disk hasn't errors (TDK are generally very good disks), it can only be a driver conflict or one erroneous task.
Try and purify your burning apps and your drivers.

Hope it helps. -
Perhaps your TDK DVD-R discs are crappy cmc media and the RW disc is a good Ritek disc.
I would suggest using different media. Also use dvd decrypter to burn to your dvd's not nero. have dvdshrink create an ISO image and burn it w/ decrypter. -
All solved. I uses DVD clone and hey presto the discs burn. Thanks to everyone for the time and effort in reading this and writing back. Youcant believe how happy I am.
