Yes, it was a phone call. Which makes it even more surprising. The only reason I have a telephone is so my satellite receivers can call home from time to time. I don't know what made me answer the phone in the first place. I never do, which provides my family endless hours of discontentment and frustration.

I think it's important to remember that Tracy Lords was not 14 when she made some of her videos. She was 17 (and an old 17). And I know that does not "excuse" it but it's not like it was kiddie child porn.

I'm not sure how illegal it would be now 20 years after the fact.

Would I have done it? Probably not. I mean come on....he could buy everything he needs to do it and do it him self for less than 2K. Sounds like a set up to me.

I wouldn't call those flix "kiddie porn" First of all, she's probably older than most of us here. I know shes older than I am, and if I recall she was 15, but looked mid 20's in those films..

in theory, I agree with you guys - she went out of her way to get fake identification so she could work in the industry, and she wasn't 8 or 10, she was in her mid teens. personally, I think she has played the victim card and hasn't fessed up to her own motives.

however, in practice, it's still child pron - she wasn't an adult when she made the movies, she was underage, even if she was 16 and looked 20, 16 and 17 still ain't 18.

I may not agree with some of the views that have been expressed here today, but one of the things I've been learning over the last few years is to see things from other people's point of view and respect it, even if I disagree with it. I don't post a lot of serious stuff, but this was one of those rare instances where something actually bothered me. It was that being set up by someone for the Traci Lords stuff that I can't see reason with.

I agree that underage porn is illegal, even if the person is a day away from turning legal age...however, that Traci lied about her age during that period and had a 3 year porn career in commercial porn videos, with at least 77 documented productions...and went on to have a decent legit career, I don't think the law should come down on people who bought those videos originally. How would anyone know the ages of the actors?
The videos became illegal years after Traci's real age was discovered.

What if her real age had never been proven? Those same videos would still be legal.
How does anyone really know the ages of any model or actor they purchase an image or video of?

The blame seems to be put on the wrong people from how I see the situation.

These are the things I was addressing - not disbuting with anything you said...just raising some questions about the way the law works (in general - not questioning anyone specifically)

The only way to play it safe is to stay away from all porn - not just Traci.


Anyway, another thing about films....even if it's porn, how is it that if you view something that it means you agree with what it is you're viewing or that it's for sexual reasons.
I see many films that I have no interest in - what makes porn any different.
Doesn't mean the viewer is into all the porn actors in the video - or what they're doing.

What if someone suddenly comes out tomorrow with proof that Marilyn Chambers was really only seventeen in Behind the Green Door - now all the sudden a classic porn film from over 3 decades ago becomes kiddie porn and all prints must be destroyed.
Is that really gonna happen?


Say someone digs up a long burried ancient sculpture or painting that depicts an underaged female involved in sexual activity?
Is the person that discovers it to be arrested?
Is the artwork to be destroyed or does it go to a museum.

Good question. Unfortunately, I've made some pretty nasty enemies in my 33 years on this planet, so I wouldn't put it past certain people to try it. Maybe they weren't expecting me to know that her age had been fleeced. Although anybody that knows me well enough knows my background, which would pretty much pre-emt that approach to revenge.

Or maybe they really DID want the tapes transferred for their own use, and it was an innocent request. I have, after all, admitted to transferring Beta tapes on this forum before.
