  1. Hello,

I recorded this CD-R about 2 years ago containing video and audio files (so it's an ISO cd-rom), today it's become unreadable (in both my drives), windows says it's an empty disc, so does Nero, obviously it is not.
Is there any way I can try to retrieve these files, or are they gone forever

    any ideas are appreciated...

I tried IsoBuster, but the problem is, the CD isn't even recognised - by any program - it just says that the disc is blank...

BTW: I have used the CD a while after I burned it, it's only now after 2 years that it doesn't seem to respond to anything.

    you are absolutely correct.
I actually meant to refer to IsoBuster. don't quite know why my brain was remembering ifoedit.
    sorry that didn't work.

Ive heard of a similar program called CD Roller.
You could also try CloneCD and make sure you let CloneCD close the drawer for you BEFORE Windows or anything else get's hold of it....maybe it could create an image...of an image?
Not sure if I read that correctly...)

  7. well, i tried both methods hech54 suggested, nothing. CDRoller seems like a decent app to me, but it didn't load my CD, it just said there was no CD in the drive...

So I tried something else, thought maybe the disc was't decently closed or something so I dropped a file in Nero and write it after the existing files, well it wrote them ON TOP of the existing data, as you can see in the pic.

Guess I'll stop trying as I'm sure the CD is completely corrupted now for certain, not that it changed anything, the CD is still unreadable as it was before...

    thanks for your responses!

    WOW....does that suck.
I tried your method once too...but with an un-finalized DVD-R. Failed miserably too. The DVDR came from a recorder that I no longer had access to....tried everything to either finalize it or read the data on it....ZIPPO.
    Sorry for your loss....
