  1. I just bought a Panasonic PV-GS12, I got a firewire with it. However I am having a problem getting the video onto my hd. It is detecting in my device manger.

I am using Nero Express, I went into Nero and controlled my camcorder thorough Nero Express (I clicked Play and the camcorder played) But there is nothing in my preview window?

So then I went to Roxio tried it there and also nothing in the preview window. So then I went to my computer and clicked on my camcorder and it played. I can't edit or do anything in my computer so I need to figure out why I can't get it in Nero and or Roxio. ANY IDEAS I am not sure what to do now???

  3. Thanks for the step by step instructions but I have like 3 (Vegas, Nero Express, and Roxio) video editing programs on my computer and I would like to try to get one of these to work before giving up and downloading another, I would Prefer Nero Express.

However I will save that for future use.

    Thanks

Having both Nero and Roxio installed on the same computer used to be the "kiss of death" for Windows. Not sure about now but having both installed used to disable at least one function in one or both programs.
    Just something to ponder...

  6. @kelmaz: i intend to buy a camcorder too, do you have the possibility to post a sample video of your GS12 anywhere please?

I am torn between the JVC GR-DX series, the Sony HC30 and the Panasonic GS11/15

I kind of want the HC30 (A/D passthrough), but the JVC seems to have a better video quality overall (still have to figure out what GR-DX model has a A/D passthrough).

I have the same camcorder, using the software that came with my adaptec 1394 card to capture worked ok. I later used the software built into windows... or at least installed into winxp...

It may have come from the Windows MediaPlayer add-on stuff I installed. Basically when I connected the camcorder and turned it on, windows identified it and allowed me to capture w/o using any other program. But I really don't know what component of XP triggered that.

Eitherway, the playback controls worked in both MGI VideoWave and XP, as well as capture. I suspect, as pointed above, that one of the programs is conflicting with another and causing your problem. You may try uninstalling all of them, reboot, and try just one program.

Sorry I can't be of further help... just wanted to say I haven't had a problem yet with that. I am, however, having a problem converting from MiniDV to DVD format. Using TMpeg to convert I notice a bunch of scanlines. Been following the conversion guides and tried both interlaced and non-interlaced but still get interlaced type motion on the mpeg-2(dvd) format file. I'm sure it's a Tmpeg setting issue as I was able to convert to Divx w/o that problem.

    Good luck.

  8. Sorry it took so long for my reply, my sister in law gave birth today and I used my new camcorder!!!

Anyway I also think they are conflicting but I use Roxio to make movies from my still shots and Nero or Vegas for Video. SO if I got rid of Roxio I have no way of making a movie from my pictures...HUMMMM

I can't seem to get them the files that small. I really haven’t done much with the settings or the video seeing how I haven't gotten it onto my hd yet.

I hate to get rid of any of my programs I like them all for different reasons. But I do need to do something...

  9. you an "make movies from your still shots" in vegas. just drag & drop a Pic to the timeline and strech it out to as long as you want. you can even take a still capture from video
