Ok guys..
For the past 6 months I have burned probably over 100 DVD's. No problems. Then all of a sudden my burner stops working over night.
I go into Nero 6.3 Ultra like usual, start to make a DVD Video from a ripped DVD. Everything starts ok, and it starts burning.
HOWEVER... it stays at 1% the whole time! It fills the "used read buffer" and says "1% writing to disc". And it never moves from there. The Action says "lead in", the buffer level stays at "0". and the Recorder State says "0".
The stupid thing never starts burning... it sits there for hours on end, and the only way i can stop it is by shutting my whole comp down manually!
So first I thought ok maybe my DVD-Burner died... so I took it back to futureshop (under warrenty) and got a replacement over the counter. Installed it, same problem. Ok.. So next thing I thought was the IDE cable... replaced that with a new spare one i have... same problems.
I am stumped guys... I cant burn dvds, it just sits there and wont go past 1%, its like it cant write the header file or something. When I shut he comp down manually, and look at the DVD... it is still empty.. so it really NEVER starts burning, it just fills the Buffer!
I am baffled... any ideas? Is it Nero? I have always used Memorex DVD-R's... and thats what this is... could it be a batch of bad dvd's?

try uninstalling NERO then use the NERO CLEAN TOOL, then reinstall NERO and see what happens. here's the link for the NERO CLEAN TOOL:

what version of nero are you using? if you're using MEMOREX discs try using another brand like MAXELL or FUJI. MEMOREX isn't the best brand to use if it's manufactured by CMC.

Problem SOLVED!
Here is what i did... i pretty much went through everything piece by piece...
1.) First I thought it was the DVD-Burner... since it was under warrenty, I took it back to Futureshop and got a new one (over the counter, no cost). Still wouldnt burn.
2.) Thought.. ok maybe my IDE cable is going bad... so I replaced it with a spare one. Still wouldnt burn.
3.) OK.. now im getting frusterated... maybe its bad media... I have 3 packs of DVDS, try 1 dvd from each pack. STILL WONT BURN!
4.) THINK! Ok... maybe its having a hard time reading the information... my DVD-Rips are on a secondary hard-drive... perhaps its have a problem reading the information from that hard-drive, and burning it through the software on my primary hard-drive. So I copy the DVD-RIP to my primary. STILL WONT BURN!!!!
5.) Ok.. the only thing left is the actual SOFTWARE. I download DVD-Lab, learn how to use it... Try burning with THAT software.. WORKS!
So somehow, my Nero 6.3.1.17 Ultra Edition was corrupted or something, and It wouldnt let me burn anymore. I even tried re-installing Nero... nothing. So im just gonna use DVD-Lab for now for burning!!
weird huh?
