  2. you realize that you have a pal (25 fps) avi that you're trying to conver to ntsc (29.97 fps)

might want to look up some pal to ntsc conversion guides.

I don't know the exact cause of your error but I did notice a couple of things that you may or may not be aware of that may or may not be contributing factors:

Your source is PAL, yet you are converting to NTSC.
Source audio is MP3, which has been known to cause problems with TMPGEnc (even though you aren't using the audio in this case).

The first thing I would try is to save the video part out into a separate file. Load your source into VirtualDub. Go to Video > Direct Stream Copy and Audio > No Audio. Go to File > Save AVI. Specify a filename and hit Save. Then feed this new AVI into TMPGEnc.

BTW, well done on posting all the settings
    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. Hi jimmalenko,

So... the mp3 audio isnīt the problem because when I convert the video, I convert without audio. As you see, I select ES(Video Only) in the TMPGENC.

Iīll try to convert this video inside the VidtualDub to create a new avi video. But When I make this convertion... i have lost of quality or not???

    Thanks,

The point we're both trying to make re: PAL or NTSC is that it is much easier to keep to output in the same format as the source. You don't have to worry about getting things in sync for one.

But if you want tackle a PAL-->NTSC conversion, don't let us stop you....

You won't lose any quality from pulling the video out to another AVI because we had DIRECT STREAM COPY selected on the Video menu.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I suspect a bad AVI. Have you scanned it for bad/undecodable frames and stuff?

  8. Hi jimmalenko,

Ok... so... iīll try to, first, convert with VirtualDub and than use the TMPGENC.

But, sorry my bad english... i canīt understand this part:

"But if you want tackle a PAL-->NTSC conversion, don't let us stop you.... "

What itīs mean "don't let us stop you.... "

    Thanks again man!

bad frames or corrupted files can cause encodes to fall over.

I was trying to say that you can do a PAL-->NTSC conversion if you wish, but I would advise against it if possible because you would be making things unnecessarily harder for yourself.
    If in doubt, Google it.

My approach is quite the opposite: I never touch an AVI until I've scanned it for bad frames using VirtualDub mp3 freeze. If it shows too many bad/undecodable frames, I usually just delete it. To me, the work involved in fixing a bad AVI simply isn't worth it. YMMV.

As above concerning the PAL to NTSC.

Next, you avi has a AR of 1.82:1 (640/352 =1.818) so you should consider encoding at 16:9 and not 4:3 as the "352" is flagged as the error...the vertical res needs to be set at 464..with 8 T&B (for NTSC) or if keeping in PAL 560 V also with 8 T&B.......and as an added bonus wave goodbye to those nasty THICK black bars (you wont even notice 8 thick borders, much).
