    Hello,
Try using isobuster to save the .dat file as an .mpg file. Then you can load the .mpg file into any program as you normally would. Here's how:
Pop in the disc - open mpegav folder - find right avseq#seq.dat file- right click - then follow this:

Extract but filter only M2F2 Mpg frames

This extraction method should only be used if you suspect certain tracks or folders contain Mpg Video Data in Mode 2 Form 2 sectors,

and if it is the Video Data you're after.

This kind of Video Data can be found on VCD, SVCD and CD-i.

In fact, this option is what other smaller and dedicated apps call 'dat2mpg'.

You can extract a *.dat file from a Video CD like this en end up with the pure mpg video data, without the overhead Windows extracts (if it even works under Windows). This 'clean' Video you need when you want to use the mpg data as input for your own Video CDs.

This is taken from the help file included with isobuster. Just save it as something.mpg then you can use it as a normal mpeg file.

  5. Hi there, want an easier solution?
Open my computer, then choose tools menu, and folder options.
Goto file types tab, and find the dat extension.
Then click on advanced and mark "always show extension"
    Click ok.
Now all you have to do is to rename the file to any extension you might believe is right f.ex. avi or mpg.
    F.ex.
    naturalbornkillers.dat - rename to naturalbornkillers.mpg
    This should work.
