Quit using Studio 8. It's the only software I ever tried that gives you absolutely no control over that.

TMPGEnd DVD Author, DVD Lab, Power Director/Power Producer and many others will let you create DVD files over 2 hours (and you can then use DVD Shrink if the files are too big for the disk). All 3 programs I mentioned have free trials.

  3. What do you use to edit. My main thing is that i edit out commercials out of my tv shows and then try to put them on dvd. ????
The cool thing that i found is that i can do it all with studio 8 plus it came with my video card so i thought that i would try it. So i am open to suggestions.

    Thanks

I use TMPGEnc DVD Author and Cyberlink's Power Producer 2 Gold. I used Studio 8 for almost 6 months before I figured out it was one of the worst choices as far as speed, stability and control over some aspects.

If you're capturing to avi with the Studio card then Power Producer 2 Gold would be the better choice (of the 2 I mentioned). It's much, much faster than Studio and it will work with the Studio captured avi files.

TMPGEnc DVD Author will not accept the captured files.

  5. Luckly i don't have to worry about bring in an AVI to Mpeg. I have a replayTV and i use DVarchive to extract the mpeg2 fromat off the harddrive, edit it, then author and burn. I agree that studio takes forever to a task. What is the quality of video using Tmpeg???
