    Hi all.

I'm having some sound issues, using my on-board sound (since my
Turtle Beach card is dead) on my ECS K7S5A mobo.

I D/L'ed the latest drivers (SiS 735 chipset) from SiS 's website. I learned
that the K7S5A does NOT have the VIA chipset - dah. I can't beleave
that all this time, I thought it was, and even installed various VIA drivers on
it (over time) etc. Anyways. I un-installed whatever VIA drivers I could, but
there are a few that just won't un-install, and they continue to show up under
Device Manager. I'd like to get rid of them someone.., if anyone knows how
to do this (hack or registry or something) - thanks.

But, on to the sound issues..

The driver that I D/L'ed works fine (and w/out any issues at first boot-up..,
    so that was a plus)

But I am getting "clicking" sound. Sort of like the hick-ups or something.
A when I'm playing a DVD movie from my DVD-ROM, at various stages, the movie
will "jerk" or "pause n play" constantly, and other times, the sound will be
out of sync. But mostly the sound is "hickup" or something.
    .
Is there anything that I'm missing in the driver D/L and Install process ??
for the time being, untill I can replace my on-board sound all-together w/
another card or external one (see my Sound Blaster MP3+ thread)

    Thanking you all in advance,

  2. Good Day!
First of all, if it's possible for you to do so I would go ahead and re-load the machine, letting it have ONLY the drivers it needs installed. Those VIA boogers can mess things up!

Next..unfortunately onboard sound, although getting better, is sorely lacking especially in the older boards such as the ECS one you speak of. Your ABSOLUTE best bet would be to just go ahead and buy something like a SB PCI 128 for 10 bucks off e-bay and disable that onboard sound. If you have buffer settings for your soundcard in the drivers then check that out and increase them but the ultimate solution to your worries is a decent stand-alone.

    hope this helps.

    Hello muskgrave,

Thanks for your response and suggestion.

Actually, the only reason why I was trying to getting my on-board sound to
work was just so that I could continue w/ my daily activities until I found an
reasonable sounded elsewheres to either replace me Santa Cruz sound card,
with a newly different brand/make/model card, or replace w/ another same
    Santa Cruz card.
I was also researching the Sound Blaster MP3+ card (external box) and have
ben researching (just a little) about it, but I haven't heard enough info on this
card as of yet (from another post I made here under this Audio forum.

If I was gonna replace w/ another newly brand card all-together, I would not
go with the Internal sound cards, because I have past experiences with them
all (right up to the MP3+ internal) and they all squeezed too my CPU resources
and percentages from my precious cpu/mobo system. And, I was wondering
if the MP3+ external brand would stil be doing this (I did end up getting
this box, but am holding on to other info from users here for their comments
and experience (pros/cons) before I finall take the plung and brake the
    seal off the package )

    Thanks again for your advice,
    -vhelp
