I am trying to something which should be fairy simple, but it's turning into a bit of a nightmare-
Trying to capture mini DV tape contents, edit them, and burn them on a DVD.
Here's the set up
Windows XP Home, fully updated (Laptop)
Firewire card thru PC slot (compatible with IEEE1394-1995, P1394a and OHCI standards)
Sony TRV Camcorder DCR TRV15E (mini DV)
Windows Movie Maker
When I have WMM Capture the video, it says Device not Found.
When I trobleshoot the firewire adapter with the camcoder plugged in it say 'Device Cannot Start'. When I trouble shhot the set up, its says to download drivers, but none are available. So that does not help me.
When I trouble shoot the Firewire card without a cable plug in, it says it's fine.
Been to Sony website, but they only have device drivers for USB connections. All the postings seem to suggest I do not need a driver for the Sony with a Firewire.
I tested the set-up upon my old MAC. It works fine with iMovies, but I dont have any burners on that system. So the camera and cable are OK.
I realise WMM does not have the ability to burn to DVD, so was just going to use this program to edit, and sort the other bit out later.
So, Where does the problem lie? The Firewire adaptor or WMM I guess.
Any help towards drivers or better peices of software to help achive what I want to do would be really apreciated.
Thanks a lot.

It's one of two things most likely:
1) That freaking Sony camera. They are LOUSEY as far as connectivity goes. They have GREAT connectivity to Sony Vaio computers though.
2) Try this official Windows fix:
