At the end of the general description, you should see where it says 'Read more...' That should show you the Microsoft Knowledge Base article that describes what the update is supposed to do and why it might be needed. If it's nothing you've experienced a problem with, or think you MIGHT experience a problem with, you may not need to bother with it. If you've gone this long without it and you're not having a problem, you should be fine letting it be.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

I have updated it on my computers. There were no bad effects. I recommend updating it.

    Beaver,

Are you still running Windows 2000 as your profile indicates?
What was the last Service Pack you installed?

That's about all I run, and I've never seen that update before. I usually load Windows 2000 and then install Service Pack 4 immediately before I do any online updates. I don't even remember seeing that update doing it the old-fashioned way...

I should update my profile. I run XP on my machine. Long ago, it used to be a driver for my motherboard...but it kept ******* up my PC. So I ignored it. Then, I checked it again and it has something to do with my CPU or something...strange.
