  1. I wanted to know is it possible to have anamorphic widescreen on a VCD. I have a video that is widescreen, but it is not letterboxed.

You need a 16:9 TV or 4:3 TV with 16:9 mode. Few guys reported to play an anamorphic VCD properly. You have to test it by yourself.

  3. I rip anamorphic DVDs to anamorphic VCDs and they work well on my TV with 16:9 mode. You also gain more resolution, because you don't waste pixels for the black border.

  4. I've tested this and must agree with dirk regarding the pro's... Some of the con's are if you have an older TV or Projector it probably won't be able to adjust the image to the correct format.
I haven't been able to get my Yamaha S-510 to adjust the image before sending it to my Proj (an old one without 16:9 functions). But my tv is 16:9 compatible and the picture is perfect!
If anyone finds a way to get a dvd player to do the 16:9 conv. on a svcd or vcd, as it does on anamorf dvd's, pleas let me know.. (If possible at all!)
