HI. running XP here, and have a Xvid file that wont play correctly.
It sometimes has blotches, and the playback has lots of flickering.
I'd like to convert to dvd, for tv plaback, but the flickering and
blotches show up in the conversion obviously.

I've installed the latest version, 1.0.1 of Xvid, but that hasnt
    helped at all.

    thanks,

    Win

Why do you think it's a codec/player problem and not just a badly encoded Xvid file? Can you play it well on a different player? Try running through Divfix.

Well, 2 reasons...it plays well on another machine, and i know other
folks had no problems with the same file.

Since posting this question, i've installed the latest version of
FFDSHOW, and the clip plays perfectly.

    thanks,
