hey, im running the MSI K7N2 Delta motherboard which runs on the nforce2 chipset. (as well as an ATI vid card).

the nvidia site has the latest drivers for the nforce chipset. but when i went to the MSI website and had a look at their drivers for the K7N2 Delta they appeared to be older then the ones at the nvidia site and also used a differrent IDE driver. heres the link to the MSI ones under Nvidia nForce2 System Drivers for MCP2 of SB http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=436&kind=1 notice that it says that the drivers listed on the MSI page were updated a day after the most recent ones were put up on the nvidia site...

so now im not sure which ones to use? (my computer seems to be running a little different since i put the latest nforce drivers (4.27) from the nvidia site and installed everything).

(could there be issues with the later drivers from nvidia and the MSI board? hence why MSI is using some of the older versions?)

    advice please...

Just purchased that MB, but haven't assembled the machine.

In general, I would stick with the drivers from the MB manufacturer. The Nvida drivers are really generic for the chipset, not the motherboard.

I'm sure if there are updated MB drivers, it won't be that long before MSI posts them.

See if there is a MSI forum listed on their site. Or email them, sometimes you can get a direct answer from the company.

nVidia updates their drivers a lot, both for video cards and chipsets. MS can't even keep up with them, the last video driver update listed on Windows update is from last October. You should be fine going with the latest public release from nVidia's website as the chipset is pretty much the motherboard and nVidia wouldn't develop something if it knew it would interfere with a popular board at all.

hmmm, yes i have emailed MSI but am still waiting for a response.... i actually installed the latest ones from nvidia but i am finding that my computer is running exactly the way it used to:

    -takes longer to boot up.
    -having slight problems with Norton.
-lcd monitor is sometimes not displaying the loading screen on bootup or restart. (winXP).

are the drivers that are posted on the MSI site which are earlier versions of some of the drivers, going to reduce performance by much? i assume they would have tested those drviers to check that they work fine?

If you want the latest drivers from MSI, try downloading and installing LiveUpdate. It should be on your driver CD, but you can also download it from their web site.

Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

cheers for the advice people.... one last question...

nvidia released an english and international version of the 4.27 unified driver... but apparently the english version is the same as 4.24? only the international version is really updated... so which ones should i use? is there any requirements for using the international ones instead of the english ones? im only basing this on the fact that these ones are called the international version...
