I am using the trial version of Cyberlink Power Producer 2 Gold to see if it will be suitable for transferring my VHS videos to DVD.
After capturing 25 minutes of 3.1Mbps video and MPEG audio from an AverMedia EZ DVD card, I used the automatic chaptering feature to divide it into 8 chapters and then burned it onto DVD-R. All of these actions were performed using the trial version of PP 2 Gold.
The resulting DVD-R plays perfectly on my PC and on my partner's Imac, but has no audio at all in chapters 2 and 4 when played on our standalone Sony DAVS-500. The problem occurs every time, whether I play the DVD normally from chapter to chapter or use the time control to jump straight into the middle of chapter 2 or 4. Chapters 1,3,5,6,7,8 have no audio problems on the Sony or anywhere else.
I am wondering if this problem could be caused by a marginally valid VOB file that would work on software players but not on standalones or whether the problem is likely to lie with the Sony.
I have also tried a number of other authoring packages(TMPGenc, DVD Lab) that were not so stable or fast on my PC, but the DVDs that they finally produced did not have any problems with audio.
