I had the card and found it good for capturing from video in but using the tuner i found interference that wouldnt go away even with a ground isolater on the cable.Same problem when i installed it on my dads computer.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
I have one of them and for the money you can't go wrong. As for Johns0 problem with interference I can't comment because TV reception is bad in any case where I live and there was no cable near the comp to test that. VHS capture via composite and s-video was sufficient.
I would use this card for recording shows for later viewing, capturing footage that wasn't that important or if your on a tight budget. I wouldn't suggest it for converting home movies because there are better capture cards on the market if you have the money to spend. -
Not a bad card for the $ BUT bear in mind that it is a software encoder not hardware. Was mostly useless on my amd 1.2 mhz sys, passable but not great on intel 2.4 mhz
Lacking a tv-tuner or any type scheduler but with excellent hardware encoding you might want to also look at the ADS DvdExpress which if found on sale can be had for $49-us after rebates http://www.adstech.com
