I just installed a new Sony DRU-700A in my 1.3GHz HP (replaced a CD-write drive), and can't get it to play the video from any DVD's (movies) using either the (included) Nero Showtime software or WMP. I get sound, but blank video. I get an error message to close other video application, even though none is running - I even got this message in safe mode, running it first. I updated my S3 Graphics ProSavage video driver, but no change.
However, the Sony drive does play mpg files on a CD disc, both video & sound. Does any one have any suggestions. Thanks, Warren in New Orleans

  3. Hi, I know that this an old post but the same thing has happened to me. Only diffs is that I get picture and no sound on WMP if I play a home recorded DVD. With Nero it also tells me to close down another media player which I do not have installed let alone running. Sony support told me to reinstall Nero with the latest updates which I'm about to do. Did you solve your problem? I'd really like to know your story. Thanks
