No.......
A cd burner will not burn a dvd.
That is why a dvd burner is called a dvd burner. -
I feel like I should start swearing at you for asking a question like this, but i'll refrain.
No you can't burn a dvd with a cd writer. -
It cannot be done. Period. End of story. Class dismissed. Grades will be posted in the Lecture Hall Friday. Have a nice day. See you later. Disconnect. End of line. Shutdown.
In short, the answer is No. -
yes it can.
there is a way i found a few years ago.
first get the cheapest dvd-r media you can find,
get nero 4.9 only this version will work
go to the preference page, set the overburn to4700 mb
grab two chickens and one goat.
you can get them cheap on ebay, or try www.fiascofarm.com
load your media and files.
wait till the second full moon of the vernal equinox, sacrifice the goat, wave the chickens at the cd drive and recite this incantation
I am too cheap to buy a $60 dvd burner
6x while moving in a clockwise circle....
oh never mind. it can't be done -

Yes you can!
Though the goat & chicken voodoo method may not work, there is an actual mechanical way to use a CDRW drive to burn a DVD. I kid you not!
First you get a blank DVD (+ or - , either will work) and open your CDR tray so that you may insert the DVD. Now close the tray and shut down your computer. Next remove the access door on your case and, using the correct tools, remove the CD burning drive from your computer. Next take the CDRW drive and place it in a fireplace or bar-b-que and douse it in lighter fluid. Now simply ignite with match and stand back. Do not breath the fumes (best done outdoors) as they are poisonous. After a while the DVD inside the drive will burn. This will of course destroy the drive and you will have not just a good reason, but also an absolute need to go buy a new drive. Get one specifies it can burn DVDs so as to make this method work properly.Old home videos are historical documents that may be best used to annoy your children. -
Is there any way I can turn my Ford Focus into a Jaguar? Because I really like the Jaguar and I don't want to spend the money on a new car.

What type of burner do you have? -
Trust Supreme2k,he always tells the truth,cd burners can burn dvdr as long as you have the right model.

No, you can not burn DVDs with a CD burner. But if you check the how to guides to your left you will see that you can burn VCDs(Video CD) with a CD burner. These will play on most DVD players. In the meantime save up some money and get a DVD burner. That way you won't get flamed by everyone on this site for silly questions like this one.

I havent seen this question for a while, dont feel too silly, it has been asked many many times before.

There are a lot of weird things that happen on PCs and in everyday life that eventually cause them to question what can actually be done. All that "End, Period, Disconnect...short answer no" is just retarded. Just be polite and answer the damn question! The forums on MSFN are much more polite than these ones. Grow up and respect each other more.

Okay, so we know you cant burn a dvd in you floppy now, But:
You can cook a piece of bologna if you set it on top of a dvd-r while burning.
disclaimer: its a joke, dont really try that -
Did it ever occur to anyone that someone may have asked this question to start a flame war?
8) Sounds fun. Count me in.
This question almost ranks up with using your CD tray as a coffee cup holder (to the asker of the original question -- DON'T TRY THIS!!!!).
