  7. Jim Valvano and Bobby Knight.

Met them both when I used to work for the University of New Mexico. I met Valvano when he did his final game at The Pit, and Bobby Knight when he came to Albuquerque for a West Regional.

That's about as famous as they come. At least, that I can remember...

  8. Parttied with Ben and Jerry Stiller in Hawaii last year. Their CBS copr jet broke down and the were forced to stay on the big island for a few days. I never really like Ben that much and he's not even close to his dad in one liners and fast thinking jokes...Even after we drank mai-tais all day.

Met the pope about 12 years ago.

Met a bunch of others, but these are the ones that really stick out in my mind as most fun or ah inspiring

  11. Met Michael Jordan back in 1997 through Make-a-Wish. Nicest guy you'll ever meet and very down to earth.

Also met a few Australian Olympians, Melbourne Cup jockeys, sporting teams etc, none that anyone outside of Australia would recognise I don't think.

  13. Did you PM me or email me? Which address if you did email me, my spam filter knocks back alot of stuff.

Edit: Just found the email, I don't have a clue about it. Must have just been someone forging the headers to replicate my address. Could you send me the full headers and I'll try and track down where it came from.

Chuck Yeager at a grand opening. Talked to him for hours, nobody else seemed to know who the hell he was. Being a pilot and an overall aviation enthusiast that was one of my most memorable experiences. He's got tons fo stories, and some hilarious ones at that.

Also met Natalie Portman when she was in town a long time ago filming Beautiful Girls. A bunch of us were out there to be extras in the film though I don't think we were any scenes. Met Uma Thurman then too which was shortly after Pulp Fiction. She was actually the reason we went over there since Natalie Portman had only been in The Professional that we knew of, though she was closer to our age (a couple years younger).

Also chatted with Alyson Hannigan at a party. BTW she is far more attractive in person than I could have ever imagined, plus she was really friendly.

Probably too many to remember, but some off the top of my head include Lawrence Welk, Colonel Sanders, Kenny Rogers, Ernie Els, Bobby Orr, Vickie Lassiter (Playboy Playmate in the late 70's), Jack LaLane, etc.

My wife went to high school with Rick Rossavich (Slider in Top Gun).

Definately dating myself with some of these names!

Well for just over 20 years I have been a radio announcer. 12 of those years full time, the rest part time. I have also work promotion at 2 record companies as well as tv broadcasting (promotions for NBC). I also worked at an A/V post production house as a staff voice over artist and did extensive work overdubbing audio for movie studios.

Most of mine are football oriented...

    John Copper (Ex. Ohio state)
    Jim Trussell (Ohio State)
    Nick Sabin (LSU)
    Larry Coeker (Miami of Florida)
    Butch Davis (Browns)
    Marvin Lewis (Bengals)
    Mark DanTonio (University of Cincinnati)
    Joe Paterno (Penn State)
Jerry Sandusky (LB coach Penn State...famous to me)
    Bill Cowher (Steelers)
Jim O'Brien (ex OSU basketball coach)
Randy Ayers (from the HS where I teach)
    Tyrone Willingham (Notre Dame)
    Lou Holtz (South Carolina)
    Johnny Major (Pitt)
    Bill Parcells (Cowboys)
there are several others but you get the idea. Being a HS football coach you meet all kinds of people in the business at clinics or meetings and such. Just this past school year I'm walking out of Lunch and I see a black guy just standing in the hall wearing all kind of Notre Dame gear. I asked him if I could help him and he said "yes, I'm looking for (kid's name)" I said "He has his next class right beside my room." So we walked and talked on the way. Class guy 100%. Oh and the kid he was there to talk to...6'6" 300 lb Junior Offensive tackle...I hate to tell Coach Willingham but I think he's going to Michigan There were several big time coaches come in to see that kid. Kind of odd when just about every big name coach in the country is just standing in the middle of the hall in your HS.

I've also met so many players I couldn't possibly list them all. Kind of different for me though, as I don't really relate to them as "stars", I'm a coach and I always see them as players. I met Lawrence Taylor and he was getting ready to sign an autograph and I said "what I am really looking for is some of the techniques you use to play the 9 tech." He was a hell of a nice guy and we split a pitcher and some wings and talked some 9 tech play and coverage adjustments.

    Famous people other than athletes.....
Halle Berry - she's from Ohio and I met her at a mall in columbus...where I would have loved to turn her upside down and ....well you know
Yolanda Eggers - Playmate of the month in June 1988 (I think)
Jenna Jameson - dancing at a club in Dayton...one of my players got her gum (I went on a different night than the players did, and they don't know I went)
Cindy Crawford - signing autographs at a show
Laura Cover Miss October 1998 - she's from our HS and her soccer uniform is in the background of a few of her pics in the layout

    Bruce Willis - in Florida
    Hank Williams Jr.
Faith Hill and Tim McGraw (together )

Come to think of it..quite a few musicians...my father-in-law drives truck for some entertainment company and he hauls stage equipment and he also drives the tour buses occasionally. Pretty cool job if you ask me, he gets all kinds of tickets for family members. My wife and Daughter just got tickets to a Tim McGraw concert that has been sold out for months. Wife may not return from that one

Not that I am important enough for any of these people to know who I am, I've met most of them through people I know. I had a kid in class my first year of teaching who now writes hip-hop music. Several of his songs have been purchased by some big name artists and have made the top 10. I thought that was pretty cool, just saw him this spring for the first time since he graduated. I guess my job kind of lends itself to those types of things. I have 3 girls in class who are models for various clothing lines...but as they are under 18, I will not give their names.

I'm just waiting on one of my kids to grow up and drive a NASCAR or Indy car.....then I'm hoping he will let me hot lap it

Babyboo, I majored in broadcasting communications, so I know that a lot of famous people run through the stations. Do you have the same feeling as me that some of these people, though famous and good in movies and have decent song, aren't much out of the ordinary and feel there's too much hype revolving around them? I haven't been at the console & mic in about 5 years or more. The last famous person I met was Amy Grant, and she was just visiting on vacation. No special concert or album promotion. I've met Jerry Lewis, Alanis Morrisette (I just said 'hi', someone else did the interwiew), talked over the phone with Tim Robbins, Dave Matthews Band, and Moby (who is a lot older than I thought he was), just to name a few.

Right now I'm in Finance. The famous names I have dealt with in finance are: Linda November, Matt Groening, & Eartha Kitt.
