When I opened a cd and I wanted to know which format they were and it said CD Audio Track but how can I see which format it really is.

i assume you "browsed" to your drive and saw a bunch of CDA files
cd Audio is ALWAYS 44.1 kHz 16 bit digital audio.
usually on a pc its wrapped in a PCM .wav file.
on a mac its usually aiff
