    anyway, i would like to know is there any firmware hack that can make sony DRU500A capable of burning a dual layer DVD?

    Haven't seen or heard of anything like that for Sony. I doubt anyone will go through the trouble. Not to mention that there's no guarantee that the hardware is physically capable of burning DL media.
    Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
