I think at that rated speed we'll see some older HD interfaces that won't keep up, and the drive will throttle down to something slower.

Burning speed review for A08 and 12x plextor:

Reviews say Pioneer 16x is slower than Plextor 12x. They use different write methods.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -

That is incredible. If I had not just bought a 4x last christmas, I would definately get one. Great price for a great looking drive.
So, are they dumping these in anticipation for a new blue-ray laser or hddvd? -
Definitely not. Bluray & HDDVD drives are still much too expensive to manufacture and market to the average consumer. Demand for DVD writers continues to skyrocket and mass production means that manufacturing costs are going down. Supply and demand my friend. 16X DVD writers will continue to drop in price as will all current technology equipment.Originally Posted by syeagerWesleyTech.com - Blu-ray Disc & consumer technology news, reviews & articles

Using 8x datawrite with fuji die i'm getting 6.50 for a full 4.3 iso.
Not wht i would call 16X but maybe its the media thats the issue as much as anything.
Still better than me 4x drive. Not bothered by small problems...
