I wasn't sure where this belongs since it deals with codecs and Windows Media Player.
I was wondering if there is a way to switch back and forth between different versions of Windows Media Player? I ask because a friend showed me the K-Lite Codec and I noticed it said something like Windows Media Player 7/8/9. Now are those the actual players or just the codecs for them? If they are the players, how do you pick which one you want to use?
I ask all of this because I'm not fond of Media Player 9, but I need to use it in order to get TMPGEnc Xpress to work.
Thanks.

I'd be surprised if TMPGEnc would require a specific version of (or any at all!) WMP to work. When it comes to WMP versions, you can go forward, but not go back in version number AFAIK, and not have several versions installed at the same time.
As far as codec packs goes - avoid them. They often create more damage to your system than they help you. Install the codec(s) you need and nothing else.
