i just bought the ridata 8x dvd+r and im trying to burn at 8x with my NEC 2510a burner, but everytime i try to burn a movie at 8x, it always stops at 4x and burns at that speed. what should i do to burn at 8x?

i suppose youre ridata 8x are ritekg05...use the newest firmware from NEC (2.16), or one from Herrie. NEC have locked the ritek G05 at 4x previously, but herrie unlocked them, and NEC released a new firmware some days ago that unlock them.. so you have 2 choices .. Herrie's firmware is the best solution...

where can i get the newest firmware from NEC? ive tried looking on their website and i cant find it... also, i have the OEM 2510a, i think i read something abuot some firmwares not being able to use it...

I believe ritekg05 are 8x -r media, I can't remember. As for herrie's fw, go to club.cdfreaks.com in NEC section.
