I started using a pop-up blocker a few months ago because I use mail.com for email and they throw about five pop-up ads at you at log-on and log-off each. Since then, I have grown to love pop-up blocking software especially when browsing pornoooooo.

I use Panicware's pop-up stopper free edition but it dosn't block everything, and sometimes lets a whole bunch through. Also, they have not updated their software since I downloaded it months ago.

What is the best free pop-up blocker.

I think it is time I changed software.

    Thanks.

I used 'Yahoo Companion' Pop-Up blocker for annoying pop-up ads.

I usually visit websites having no pop-ups and this is better for me.

Only a few have only one pop-up on a visit.

The best popup blocker I have found was the one integrated in Mozilla Firefox. Back in the day when I used Internet Explorer Google's popup blocker seeemed to be the best. The only thing I hated about Internet Explorer was how poorly it handled ActiveX, even with a popup blocker. It was getting to the point where the popup blocker would catch the ActiveX popup but the spyware would just pass right by and install.

  8. The pop-up blocker in Mozilla Firefox is configurable and reliable enough that I've never even though of getting a third-party blocker.

    Regards.

I use the google toolbar too with the integrated pop up blocker. Very few get through. Pop ups are supposed to be a thing of the past with sp2 for IE users.

I "borrowed" a copy of the software they use at my work. When the first pop-up comes up, it asks for a password, if I shrink it down and never enter the password, none of the pop-ups, show up. I can turn off pop-ups all together, or I can make it for all the pop-ups to appear in the same pop-up window and then go back through each one like clicking the 'back' button on the browser. At the moment it's on 'pop-ups disabled' so nothing has been getting through. The software is called One Way Mirror or OWM. Good software though. I think it's a custom software made for the company though.

  12. How does one block these new kind of ad's - these don't pop-up but just overlay a large window/frame on the main page, almost effectively blocking it?
