I have a 450 mhz PII. I need to know the fastest way (short of getting a new computer. Has to be this one!
) to get video off of a DVD onto the hard drive in a format that I can use later on with TMPGEnc! DVD X COPY takes waaaayyyy too long because it involves burning a DVD. Any tips, tricks greatly appreciated! Thanx!!!

I would go for a 2 step process;
1) DVD Decrypter to rip the material to the hard drive, and
2) Auto Gordian Knot to convert to an avi.

Hello,
You could look for a capture card that will run on your computer. That way you'll have it in realtime (and one that will remove macrovision- assuming of course you have a standalone dvd player).
You'll lose 5.1 sound however (unless you have a soundcard with a digital input)

You have a number of options for the next step. You can feed the files off you Hard Drive into DVD2AVI, which will create a .D2V file and your audio file. You can then load this .D2V file directly into TMPGEnc with your audio.
What do you want to end up with in the finish ?If in doubt, Google it.
