    hey everybody,
i have had a CD containing a movie on it and i decided to transfer it to a VCD. the thing is that this movie has excellent quality on a computer and i dont wanna risk any quality loss if i transfer it to VCD. also the files are in AVI format, and i cant seem to get them to VCD in that format. at first i thought of using TMPGEnc to encode it to mpeg, but was afraid of quality loss, so i am basically asking is if anybody can please direct me to a good software which can make the files capable of going onto a VCD w/o risking quality. all posts are welcome and thanx to all.

First off, you cannot make a VCD from an AVI unless you convert it into a VCD compliant mpeg.

Second, VCD is not excellent quality because of it's low resolution. Sub-VHS at best.

Third, TMPGEnc is a good quality encoder so you can go ahead and make your VCD with it. Don't expect it to be as good as your source, it's not possible with VCD.

  4. I'd convert to SVCD. The quality wont be noticably worse, but it will look better than VCD. Follow this guide for good results.

    Here's a guide.

SVCD is better than SVCD if your DVD player will play it. Not sure? Look it up in the "DVD players" section over there <-<-<-.
