There appears to be alot of models of these machines ranging from the E30s-E50s (atleast since that's my unit) at'll lock up and go into the "recover" sprial that never ends if the wrong brand of DVD-Rs are used so I thought a list of "safe" discs would be useful.

    Good:

    Maxells - 4x - perfectly (Maxell code)
Fuji's - 4x - sometimes has to be re-inserted but never has locked up the machine (TYs)
    Panasonic RAM discs w/o cartridge

    Bad:

    Memorex: 4x - (CMCs)
Fuji CDR (audio CD): 24x (TYs)

Anybody have any suggestions for a RAM disc in a cartridge (especailly if Tiger Direct is selling it .

  2. Prodisc DVD-Rs work the best of anything I've tried, and they are very reasonably priced. Optodisc DVD-Rams work, but I have had a few bad ones. Out of 85 or so, most of them 9.4s, I had problems with 3 or 4. The company is very good about replacing any bad discs though, send them in they send replacements, regardless of age. They say they will replace them only if they have not been removed from the cartridge, but I returned 2 that had and they still replaced them.

Thanks will give the Prodisc's a go. There appears to be no Canadian stores with Optodisc RAMs but atleast I can find the Panasonic dvds in Canada (even if they are without the cartridge).
