Nec recently released a new firmware which let burn some 8x certified disc at 8x that before were locked at 4x because they were not in their recommended list.. So i grabbed an herrie's firmware to be able to burn my 8x media at 8x.. now that NEC unlocked my media (RITEKG05).. is there a difference in the burning process between the 2 firmware (new official from NEC, Herrie's one) or its the SAME thing.. so i dont have to get the new from NEC to have better burns ? thanks !

ok nice..but is there a difference in the burning process between an Official and Hacked firmware.. or his firmware only unlock to 8x and burn them as other permitted 8x ..

The hacked firmware applies an 8X write strategy for RitekG05 from a previous NEC fw that contained 8X support for this media.
