The new DVD Shrink reads, plays and edits VR discs make by my LiteOn 5001.
I'll check my Cyberhome 2500 disk later today & update.

UPDATE
D'Shink joined a disc made with LiteOn 5001, with one made with Cyberhome 2500.
Both were trimmed by DShrink before joining.
All chapters were retained. -
I tried DVD Shrink 3.2 today and it didn't work for me. I got the same error that previous versions of DVD Shrink had. "Invalid structure" or similar. This was in whole disk mode. In file mode it saw the second title only, of two titles on the disk. This was a disk made on a 5001, trying to read on a LiteOn 411S.
The only tool so far that works for copying whole +VR disks is DVD Decrypter in ISO mode. This works consistently for me. Of course, the .vob files can be copied to hard drive and re-authored instead, but I don't bother with that. -
LiteOn is DVD+VR, which is almost identical to DVD-Video mode. Not really "VR" as seen on RAM media.

I'm using the latest version, just downloaded. What firmware do you have on your LDW-5001 ? They may have improved compatibility in firmware 1163 but I wouldn't know because I'm sticking with my 1139 (macro free).

I'm using the latest fw.
Try the 1143 fw as it too is macro-free (hacked 1163 is "semi" macro-free as it's free only on playback).
I have NOT tested 1143.

Now, my Philips DVDR75 seems solve part of the problem. When I am recording tape sources, DVDR75 automatically pause when the tape ends and then I insert another tape, it resumes recording.
When my sources are VCDs or DVDs, I just let it record and then pause when I am back insert another disc and continue recording. DVD shrink can now import these recordings and then cut and join as necessary.Sam Ontario -

When done, split the titles on the 2nd recorded DVD+RW disc as many as you want but it will be advisable if you do the splitting sequentially, or you will have trouble in DVD shrinking again. At this stage, of course, you don't really need DVD shrink any more to make copies on +R or -R discs of the finished video with thumbnails, but just in case you want to combine further with more videos.Sam Ontario -
Thanks for the info. I'll give those a try.
Now if someone could write a dvd vr program to convert, edit, add menu's,add other mpg's and record to a normal -r +r etc. That would be great and would have many thousands of users, I'm sure. Or just a program to convert the recording to a single file Mpeg2. I volunteer to be a beta tester
