  1. The speed i've got from ripping DVD-9 is really slow, seems like it's cap around 4X on both my DVDRW and my DVDROM, so i'm thinking of doing 2 disc ripping at the same time, would that some how corrupts the data? here's my set up.

    AMD Duron 2241 mhz
    512 MB PC2700 Ram
    Primary Master: 160GB Maxtor
    Primary slave: DVDrom
    Secondary Master: 120GB Maxtor
    Secondary Slave: 8X DVDRW

i've tried virtually everything but all i've got is 4X, so i probably rip using both drive for better speed, wut u guys think?

For starters I would reconfigure your box so that you have the two hard drives on the Primary - OS drive as the master and data drive as the slave, and your burner as the Secondary master and your ROM as the slave.

I would then read this thread.
    If in doubt, Google it.

There is no reason you CAN'T rip two discs at once.

However, there are reasons you SHOULDN'T, and the biggest is that rather than running FASTER, you will discover that ripping two discs at once takes MORE THAN TWICE AS LONG.

It would be faster to rip them separately.

Not necessarily true. I have ripped 2 discs at once multiple times and saw no change in the amount of time it took. If drives are on seperate channels it helps though.

x2. I can keep DVDDecrypters buffer at 0% when ripping two DVDs, one on a Pioneer DVD120 and one on a Lite-On 166s. This is on an AthlonXP 2500 with 1.5Gb RAM and ripping to a Seagate RAID0 array. If I rip from the second 166s on that channel, the buffers tend to fill up. Depends on what discs I'm reading though.

Since you have 2 DVD drives and 2 hard drives, I'd recommend ripping each disk to a separate drive to get the best speed.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

It is true that you can do them in the SAME time - only if your computer is already so fast (as most of ours are) that it does not TAX the machine to rip. If the limiting factor is the DVD drive's extraction speed, then yes of course you can do two at once.

This person's ripping is limited by the REST of his system. Therefore it WOULD take more than twice as long to rip for him.
