Im looking for a decent audio mixer to get alot of the analog material into my computer, mainly my record collection and cassettes. Does anyone know of some decent sites where I can buy a good mixer? Ive been told that the Mackie mixers were really good. Thanks!

In my experience Mackie are really cheap, not my first recommendation. Do you really need a mixer? Can't you just plug the output of your tape machine into your sound card and go? The fewer analog devices in the chain, the less noise you will have.

If you really need a mixer, you might want to check here:

    http://www.behringer.com/02_products/groupindex.cfm?mid=2&smid=3&lang=ENG

Something like this one might fit your needs:

    http://www.behringer.com/MX602A/index.cfm?lang=ENG

Or if you must get a mackie, then make sure you get one that has the "pro" logo on it, they have more headroom before distortion.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  3. mackies are great. definitely not cheap though. a decent 16 channel will set you back a grand.
behringers are ok. i run a yamaha os2. its digital. it does the A/D conversion for you. i then run the mixer output to my HD via lightpipe.

if you need to digitize cassettes or vynil, you don't really need a mixer. usually you would use a mixer to hook up a whole bunch of things to your computer. if you need to amplify the source, you might look into a mike preamp or your stereo reciever. you can hook up the output of any of those directly to your soundcard.

    i started with a p2 400 a sb live and two turntables
