Hi,
I have captured on to my pc from my dv tape, authored in DV format to preserve quality.
When I burn to dvd and view on my tv, the picture is very grainy!!
I thought it was the actual dv tape, when using a new one, the quality was the same.
Is there any way I can reduce the grainy effect.
I feel that it is my dv cam, as it never used to be this bad.
What do you suggest I do??

It's not a Black and White world, to be alive the colours must swirl.

Most DV cams simply get grainy as hell when the lights go dim. The best investment you'll ever make is a decent quality light for your cam. As for minimizing grain during encoding, you need to use some sort of guassian blur. What encoder are you using? Chances are it has a blur filter. You don't want to over do it of course, so just play with the settings.
If you are familiar with Avisynth, the convolution3D filter does wonders for grainy DV footage. -
i love the dynamic noise reduction filter in virtual dub, combined with a gaussian blur filter its the best
