  1. I'm new to the whole VCD World. Here is what I want to do. I want to put together a disc that will play audio in a car stereo but also contains video. I already know how to creat enhanced CDs (via quicktime for PC or mac) but I want to know if it is possible to do this and have playback on a DVD player. I'm guessing I'm a little ahead of the technology right now though. am I right or can this be done?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I have never tried this but in theory it might work. You should create an enhanced cd then put whatever audio you want on it to play in car sound system then you should copy all the folders that are neccessary for a vcd to the data section then put your .dat file in there. It would really depend on though whether your dvd player looked for audio or video first when it looks at a disc.

Post the results though if it does work

  3. video cds can hold audio on tracks after the 1st track and video tracks. the audio can even be controlled by the vcd player. e.g. cd audio can play while a picture is being shown.

<--- click on AUTHOR on the left. video cd 2.0 toolkit by philips is the best tool to use.

  4. Isn't the philips toolkit the only tool that can do that ??

  6. After trying to download the Phillips program I am starting to realize that it is not compatable with WinME (the cursed OS, I'll be upgrading to XP soon). Are there any other suggestions that anyone can think of to help with this delima? Would Toast work in this application?

    thanks

I'm pretty sure the Philips VCD Toolkit is compatible with Windows ME, as it was designed to run on Windows 3.1. The only problem I have with the Toolkit is that it is nowhere near user-friendly ... but it has an excellent muxer.

Another program that will author a VCD2.0 disc with MPEG-1 video and CDDA audio is Roxio's (Cequadrat's) Videopack 4. If you want to discuss Videopack 4 privately (*hint*), just e-mail me ... but I will no longer reply to e-mails of people who ask me where to download Videopack 5 ... I don't know!
