Hello, I just purchaesd a lite-on 832s and tried to make my fist disc. I
kind of failed and would like suggestions if possible.

I used the latest version of nero, it said that it successfully created disc,
when I played it my Sony SLV-D500P stand alone it played erratically, lots
of artifacts and sound was jumpy. I played it on my computer, no artifacts
but I had no sound either. I tried to burn it in copy to dvd but that kept
failing to initialize, luckily it didn't ruin my disc. I changed the book type to
dvd rom, hoping that this may make the disc more compatible, but this might be my problem, I only have one more disc and really don't want to ruin another one because they are cost prohibitive at the moment.

I have the latest firmware fron lite-on installed, and used their book tool for changing book type.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Bad move buying that writer. Should have given it more time before they work out the issues with those. Second thing is those blanks are way too expensive.
To back up a commercial DVD is not even worth it. Probably better to buy 2 copies of everything which defeats the purpose.

It was only $80 or so, so I figured that I would give it a try.

My 2 discs came as promos from Newegg, so it really didn't
cost anything to try - discwise that is!

Ps this writer got good reviews! I chose this one over the NEC

  5. the problem is the dual layer mania.....a lot of problems for now, just as it was the single ones a while ago.

give it some time, the disc are way to expensive to experiment it.
