  1. anyone have a problem with return of the king? ive tried to make a vcd outta this dvd as a back up and can only get video--no audio. the programs i use are: dvddecrypter in ifo mode, dvd2avi outputting the audio as a wav file and tmpgenc. ive tried the same method, settings etc with other dvd's and had no problem. i was wondering if rotk had some sneaky encryption. thanx

  3. im in the process of making a lord of the rings "complete" dvd and this is one of the stages. ive already done it but the last movie has no sound so when i get this sorted it'll be an epic - not a waste of a movie...

  5. yup, 6 vcd's all made with a 1 disc template in tmpgenc then reauthored with tmpgenc dvd author and ran thru dvdshrink reathor mode. tried it once and it worked just fine with a quality a little better than vhs.

Hmm....I find it hard to believe that you can fit 9.5 hours of video on a dvd at better than vhs quality.

Try playing this WAV file on its own.

Are you muxing the audio using TMPGenc or TMPGEnc DVD Author ?

Why DVD Shrink's Re-Author mode ? Wouldn't you just do Full Disc ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

I think if you cut the audio down to about 128kbps, use 2-Pass VBR encoding, VCD res, and ran the output through Shrink you could quite possibly get something half-decent to look at.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  10. managed to get the audio sorted by extracting as a wav using xmpeg then remuxing in tmpgenc with the video. strange though, i've never had this problem before and it still annoys me why it happened. the way i done this dvd is by using a 1 disc template in tmpgenc and dropping the audio like you say to 128kb/s. i cut each film in half and set the disc size to 74min at 98% of capacit, then reauthored the resulting mpegs to make vob files. the reason i reauthored again using "shrnk" was to make sure i could get it all on 1 dvdr. the quality like i say is more than acceptable.

I reckon you've gone the long way about it, but kudos for trying !

It's probably one of those self-discovery type projects anyway I guess.
    If in doubt, Google it.
