That 1.21 gigawatts line was a sarcastic qoute from the movie Back To The Future, but what he said after it was right on the money. It varies widely. Most motheboards nowadays can hold a max of 1.5gb (usually 3 sticks of 512mb). I don't think I've seen a 32-bit PC consumer mobo allow more than 2gb so that is probably a good wall. As others are saying though, 1gb is more than enough. More than likely after that point you will notice nothing more than the dollars missing from your pocket on lap dance night.Originally Posted by zib
Another reason not to buy more ram than NORAD is that DDR speeds (and currently platforms with DDR2) increase almost as fast as processor speeds. It would kinda suck to have bought 3gb of PC2100 a few years ago when the ram prices bottomed out now wouldn't it (well, unless you were a eBay seller).

I don't know about anyone else's but mine (MSI GNB Max-FISR) supports 4GB. I only have 1GB installed currently.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
