Okay, I downloaded an mpeg file and here is the info that the program AVIcodec returned on the file:
I keep getting the dreaded "file unsupported" error in TMPGEnc when I try to convert the file to DVD compliant Mpeg2. I've done everything the sticky post suggested such as:
1. Make the Directshow Multimedia File Reader the top priorty
2. Installed DivX codecs
3. Installed XviD codecs
4. Installed ffdshow codecs
But I still receive the error. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

That is already a DVD compliant file if AVIcodec is correct. It doesn't need conversion. However it is shown as 20 seconds duration with a file size of close to 20megs.
You don't need XVID or DIVX unless that's what you plan to convert it to. If so I would use VirtualdubMod instead.
