  1. I thought I would solve my problem by replacing my Verbatim (MCC) with Maxell (TY) brands.

Is it my burner that's causing the problem? I have a Pioneer 106.

Every 2-3 burns I do, I always end up with a light ring in the middle of the dvd-r. Why? I don't understand.

I thought by purchasing TY media (supposedly the best brand out there) all my problems would be solved, but this is not the case and i'm getting fustrated. I don't want these discs to become defective in a few months because people have reported a 'ring' to indicated bad dye.

    Please help!

  2. check this out https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=231799..

It is perfectly normal. a bad dye ussually happens near the outer edge of the disk. and dye imperfections there mean a bad disk.

  3. What speed are you burning them at? If it is something other than 4x, it is possible that it is where your burner speeds up the burn from 4x to whatever.
    Blah, blah, blah

  4. They are 4x media, and I only burn ay 4x. It's funy because I tried burning at 2x and never got the ring; however, I only tried 2 discs at this speed. I'll try more to see if the speed makes any difference for these.

    Thanks for the responses.
