Which spyware scanners/removers/preventers do you guys use? No matter what I do I always seem to get Flingstone Bridge. As of now I am using Ad-aware 6 build 181, Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner 1.12, WinPatrol 7.0.1, and SpywareBlaster 3.2, but apparently that isn't enough.

I just use Spybot and SpywareBlaster. I also use Firefox as my browser, no IE. I get very, very few tracking cookies since I started using SpywareBlaster. Other than tracking cookies, I don't get any spyware. The biggest help was switching to Mozilla / Firefox.

I've settled in on Ad-Aware and Spybot but find I still need to use Hijack This occasionally. CoolWebSearch remover is another that come in handy. Wintools is a particularly vicious thing and the only way I've ben able to get it off people's machine is to boot from a Bart PE XP CD and manually delete the files.

Spyware can be a pain in the ass to try and delete and that's why i've found that you need a few programs to be able to maintain your computer properly. One program can not do it it all for you and the more programs you have, the more chance you have of having no spyware on your computer. I use Ad Aware and Norton Internet Security 2004 and they've been great. Hijackthis is also a great program. I've used it a few times and it's very handy. Definately add that one to your list too.

I gave my attempt at learning to read the logs a while ago. After a while you move on and learn what generally give you spyware and how to stay away from it. :P I was just seing what everyone uses, and if there was any new phenomena that I hadn't heard of. :P

  9. In front of these have a good software or hardware firewall. If hardware is not an option use Kerio Personal Firewall. It will help
