  1. I tried using DVDInfoPro and DVD Identifier using Virtual PC to try and read the media code on some blank DVD-Rs. All I could get it to report was: "Pressed DVD", which obviously is incorrect.
    I'm using all "standard" equipment...i.e. Apple-installed SuperDrive.
Has anyone had any luck going this route?

Great! Can't wait to try it...but I'll have to wait 'til I get home tonight.
Alas, my employment uses the (non-Mac) dark side.

japanase app but if you only need media code it should be enough.
I do read a little Chinese, and since they share *some* characters, hopefully I'll be able to make enough sense out of it.

  7. I forgot that Babelfish now handles Japanese translations.
It's a very rough translation, but the meaning is clear enough.
(and highly entertaining.....'dragging [the application]' is translated as "the drug")

Here's the rough English translation of the application's download page:

Yes, I found this app yesterday from a link in Dealmac.
I posted the translated PDF at my homepage, and submitted it to the
    Mac Guides section...

  10. It doesn't read the "Pre-Recorded Information in Lead-In" on my 1.25ghz 15" Powerbook (Matshita UJ-816 Superdrive).

Maybe a future update will be useful to me...
