I am trying to make a clip from a dvd ripped file, but i want to compress the ac3 audio to make the file smaller. So far, at a little over 3min, 1800kbps for bitrate, at 720x480 and an increase in the volume, I am getting and end .avi file that is about 80mb. The video is where I want it, but the audio needed to be louder. The audio makes up about 32-34mb of that.

So, as I am using VirtuaDub-MPEG 1.5.10, what can I do to compress the audio to make the file smaller?

Also, I hope this is the right forum, but if not, which one should I be addressing?

    Hello,
Have you tried mp3? Since it's an avi it will accept it. Also, you could put this in the AUDIO forum
    Kevin
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. hi,

Or you can use the ogg format with the quality comparable with ACC.

You aso can check your VitualDub guide of how can encoding the audio.

    good luck
