  1. I find good quality video files in .avi here and there, but the thing is they are like a mpg file, and only 40 mb lets say for a 4 min music video. Now I dont think its due to compression becuase I havn't found a compressor that can get it down that far. So I'm thinking maybe differnet encodes? Could anyone give me a link to like a basic encode guide maybe? I havnt found one on here but ill keep looking. Even like an all encode site woudl be cool.

Also I have seen like an hour movie in .avi format at 23 mb. Id really like to know how to do that, (it was at good resolution too).

thanks in advance, any help would be appreciated. Im just looking for info on encodes so i know how to do them or somehting (im not to sure on the whole encodeing thing).

    Hello,
Try the newer divx codecs. I know they include "portable" video bitrate settings. I believe that's meant for those arcos portable digital video viewers and pda's. I don't know how small they get but that would be a good place to start. Look at the dvd to divx guides on this website to get started.

P.S. I agree with treebear, how do you get an hour video down to only 23mb???? (Maybe it was encoded at what, 1mbps? )

  5. Oh, my bad, it was 32 mb, dbz movie 6, kazaa.

    anyways

    thx for the help yoda.

But I have another question, I make my own music vidoes, and I want to get them smaller (my latest, Troy Korn Thoughtless, is 47.9 mb)

so would those dvd to divx work for this since its not dvd...??

    thanks in advance

  6. As your quality requirements are quite vage, I will go out on a limb here and say that smallest you can get is about 1.5 to 2MB per minute (audio included).

Check this out, just skip the rotation step.
