  1. He said she's already sent like 5 text messages asking if he's wired the money yet! I told him he should just ignor her until it's all worked out.

I am at my other office. When I get to my main office I will forward the email. BUT still nothing, maybe it takes a while for them to check up on things.

  3. Just a note to everyone,

In the SCAMMERS mail, there were some reference numbers that were meant to be included in the reply I sent. I did not include these, but sent an appropriate response with the numbers, trying to bait him. If I get a hook on this scammer, I will post it as "Scamming Episode 1: The Phantom African"

  4. Here's an update on my friends sitsuation. He contacted the issuing bank and received this response:

    Dear XXXXXX:
The cashiers check you receive is a fake. It was not issued by First Florida Credit Union. If you received the check via US Mail, you should contact the US Postal Inspection Service and report mail fraud. This website may be of assistance to you:

He should send them a e-mail that says thanks check cleared but you'll never see your money......

So that's the scam they hope you deposit it then wire the money before the bank finds out it's fake.

They cashed the check? That's a pretty good scam. Love to hear that conversation.

That reminds of another check story I read a few years ago. This one involves some real money though. It's very long but true. I searched for it here's the link. http://www.goodthink.com/writing/stories.cfm
